Simon Proudlock

Simon Proudlock is a Consultant Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society working for the NHS and in private practice. He has studied and worked in both the UK and USA.

In 2018 he was awarded the Practice Prize for Innovation by the British Psychological Society for his ground-breaking work using EMDR Therapy with individuals in an acute mental health crisis. Prior to this in 2012 he was awarded the Practice Prize by the British Psychological Society’s Division of Counselling Psychology for his Distinctive Contribution to Counselling Psychology for work in Solution Focused Therapy.

Within the NHS he has worked in a Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) for over 10 years and currently supports a Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion service. He provides EMDR supervision to many NHS Trusts around the country primarily with clinicians who work with individuals with severe and enduring mental health needs in the community, inpatient and forensic settings.

Simon continues to research the effectiveness of EMDR across a range of populations and settings. In 2020 he published his research on using EMDR with individuals who are suicidal, and has subsequently delivered workshops to an international audience. By taking a trauma informed approach, his ethos is to increase the settings EMDR can be used in a well as increasing the evidence base highlighting the number of clinical presentations EMDR can be used with.

As well as EMDR, Simon has a passion for Solution Focused Therapy and is the author of ‘The Solution Focused Way: Incorporating Solution Focused Therapy Tools and Techniques into Your Everyday Work’.

Dr. Zeynep Zat

Dr. Zeynep Zat is a Consultant Psychologist registered with Health and Care Professions Council and an EMDR Trainer and Consultant approved by EMDR Europe and the UK. Internationally recognized for her expertise, Dr. Zat has worked extensively across the UK and Türkiye. She serves as a board member for EMDR Türkiye Association and is a valued member of the Accreditation Committee of the EMDR UK Association.

Her work spans clinical practice, research, and humanitarian aid projects. She has provided trauma therapy to adults for more than a decade and had a critical role as Projects Coordinator EMDR at the Institute for Behavioural Studies, Istanbul where she conducted Humanitarian and Research Projects with. Dr. Zat is especially known for her voluntary work with Syrian refugees on the Türkiye-Syria border as a part of her team, leading EMDR R-TEP and G-TEP interventions that were published in Randomised Controlled Trials (RCT).

In recognition of her groundbreaking research on the EMDR treatment of Fibromyalgia, she was awarded a $25,000 grant from the EMDR Research Foundation. She has also contributed chapters to key publications on trauma treatment, including works published by Springer, focusing on the EMDR treatment of migraines and fibromyalgia and also EMDR G-TEP.

Her approach to education and trauma relief has shaped the careers of many in the field, particularly through her involvement with Trauma Aid Turkey, where she has led G-TEP training and supervised those aiding victims of the February 6th Kahramanmaras Earthquake where more than fifty thousands people lost their lives.

Her commitment to advancing trauma therapy is reflected in her continued work, both in clinical settings and through her significant research contributions. Dr. Zat is an inspiring educator and dynamic speaker, delivering training and supervision to therapists worldwide.

Dr. Jonathan Hutchins

Dr. Jonathan Hutchins is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, EMDR Consultant, and EMDR Europe Accredited Trainer with over 15 years’ experience working across crisis and home treatment teams, inpatient services, and community mental health settings. He has also provided supervision to a wide range of NHS services, including forensic and complex mental health teams. Jonathan is widely recognised for his expertise in trauma and EMDR, particularly in adapting the approach for clients with complex, high-risk, and multifaceted presentations. Alongside his clinical work, he has held leadership roles in advancing EMDR research and practice, including serving as Chair of the Scientific Research Committee for EMDR Association UK.

Jonathan has an established publication and teaching profile, with a growing body of work exploring innovative applications of EMDR. His contributions include articles on Neuro EMDR, intensive EMDR formats, and the adaptation of EMDR for neurodiverse clients (in press). He has also published on the use of EMDR with individuals living with dementia and the integration of carers into trauma-informed approaches. His work bridges clinical practice and emerging neuroscience, with a particular emphasis on making EMDR accessible, flexible, and effective for populations often excluded from standard protocols.

He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Neuropsychology, which underpins his specialist interest in the interface between trauma, cognition, and brain function. As a trainer, Jonathan is known for translating complex theory into practical, clinically applicable skills, supporting therapists to work confidently with complexity, intensity, and adaptation. His teaching integrates cutting-edge research, real-world case material, and a strong emphasis on therapist confidence, safety, and fidelity to the EMDR model.
